NEAT-Hub Project Participates in Nigeria-UK PACT Phase 2 Launch and Learning Event

The NEAT-Hub project team recently participated in the Nigeria–UK PACT Phase 2 Launch and Learning Event held on 3–4 March 2026 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja. The event brought together government leaders, development partners and implementing organisations to strengthen collaboration and share progress on climate and clean energy initiatives supported under the Nigeria–UK PACT programme.

The two-day event was organised by the British High Commission in Abuja, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO),and the programme delivery partner Palladium. The Nigeria–UK PACT programme is the United Kingdom’s flagship international climate partnership initiative, supporting countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America in implementing climate commitments and building sustainable low-carbon economies. In Nigeria, the programme has funded 15 projects worth approximately £8 million since 2021, supporting efforts toward a greener and more sustainable national economy.

The learning event convened a wide range of high-level stakeholders including representatives from the Federal Ministry of Power, Federal Ministry of Health, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), the British High Commission, government regulators, project implementing partners, and development agencies. Senior government officials present included the Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Power, representing the Honourable Minister for Power alongside representatives from the UK Government and other development partners.

Day One of the event focused on portfolio coordination, strategic launch activities, and stakeholder engagement across the Nigeria–UK PACT portfolio. Discussions highlighted Nigeria’s priorities for clean energy transition while showcasing the newly launched projects under Phase 2 of the programme. Implementing partners, including the NEAT-Hub project team led by Dr. Obumneme Nwafor, participated in technical sessions that examined project delivery strategies, institutional partnerships, and opportunities for collaboration across initiatives.

During the technical deep-dive sessions, participating projects presented their approaches to addressing key climate and energy challenges in Nigeria, including capacity building, policy support, clean energy deployment, and innovation in energy systems. These discussions helped identify areas of synergy between projects and opportunities for coordinated action among implementing partners, government agencies, and sector stakeholders.

The second day of the event focused on capacity building and learning for implementing partners, with sessions covering monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), integration of Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles, financial management, sustainability planning, and communication for impact. These sessions were designed to strengthen project delivery and ensure that programme outcomes are sustainable beyond donor funding.

As the Nigeria–UK PACT programme moves into its next phase of implementation, the NEAT-Hub project remains committed to working with government agencies, utilities, academic institutions, and industry partners to advance AI-enabled innovation, strengthen clean energy workforce development, and support Nigeria’s pathway toward a sustainable energy future.
